It just occurred to me that Sigma and Ango are pretty similar. They both have abilities which extract information via touch, they're both workaholics, they both end up roped into Dazai's schemes and he ends up being a motivating factor in both of them taking major risks, their canon likes are based in things readily available to them and their canon dislikes have a very large overlap (both have a mix of physical discomforts they're accustomed to, Ango has betrayal, and Sigma has people trying to use him)

The big point of divergence is that Ango already had enough life and work experience that the government trusted him to infiltrate the mafia years before Sigma popped into existence with no roots or memories, so their motivations, morals, and base knowledge are vastly different. By the time Ango shows up in the main era, he's working with the knowledge of someone who's read a little of the BSD manga and at least two light novels. By the time Sigma shows up, he's working with the knowledge of someone who's seen two BSD out of context videos and a Danny Motta reaction

Sigma is Ango if Ango had more or less no idea what the heck was going on and got his fashion sense from another timeline

Reasons why Sakaguchi Ango is the funniest character is bsd:

1. Bro betrayed every single organization under the sun. You'll find at least one person who got betrayed by him on every street of Yokohama.

2. Managed to anger not one, but both of double black and it still alive. Insane.

3. "I can't do this work anymore. I'm going to quit." Continues to do the said work. Doesn't quit.
